Full-Time - Boston, MA, United States

We are looking for a Junior IT Operations Engineer to assist us with the everyday operations of our springpad platform. Join a fast paced venture backed consumer applications startup reimagining how personal organization and productivity should work today. Check out our beta release at www.springpadit.com.

Responsibilities

* Manage and monitor our web application farm.
* Develop software tools and scripts to configure, monitor and maintain our operations services.
* Analyze and maintain log data to assist in problem discovery and regular maintenance.
* Analyze and maintain performance data to optimize the usage of our server systems.
* Participate in software releases to qa, staging, and production environments.
* Expected to participate in on-call rotation.
* Must be able to work independently

Requirements:

* At least 2 years of experience with Linux system administration (Debian/Ubuntu experience is a plus).
* Must be able to use Linux command line tools for administration.
* Good network, system and application troubleshooting skills.
* Some experience with SQL (MySQL), shell scripting, perl, python.
* Experience with web servers, preferably with Apache HTTP Server and Tomcat.
* Some experience with performance tuning and optimization.
* Experience with 24x7 environment.
* Understanding of SLAs
* BS/BA in IT or related field
* Virtual servers/Amazon Web Services experience a plus
