Description
Brightcove is seeking a Senior Linux Systems Engineer experienced in designing, building, installing, maintaining and troubleshooting multi-tier Linux server environments. Primary responsibilities will be creating an automated process for building and deploying production servers to multiple colo facilities. The Senior Linux Systems Engineer will be responsible for configuration and management of SAN and NAS storage solutions as well as the design a multi terabyte backup solution. Work with a release engineer for all software deployments to production environment. The position requires a responsible, team oriented, well organized individual with strong communications skills and the ability to handle multiple concurrent projects while adapting quickly to rapidly changing priorities.

Requirements

• 8+ years Linux systems administration in complex multi tier networks
• 6+ years DNS management
• 6+ years Apache/tomcat Server management
• 6+ years working in environments with Oracle / Mysql
• 4+ years storage experience (netapp, Winchester, EMC)
• 4+ years SAN and NAS
• 6+ years in relevant 24x7 highly available, on-call environments
• Internet applications and protocols HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, & SSL
• Disk management with LVM and Veritas
• Shell and Perl scripting
• TCP/IP networking experience
• Java and Java Script
• Ability to work in heterogeneous environments including Linux and Windows servers.
• Proven analytical / problem solving ability
• Demonstrated ability to learn new skills quickly
• Able to work and contribute to a team environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Required to be flexible, detail oriented and organized with the ability to multitask and work independently



Highly Desirable:

• RHES v3/4 and CentOS v3/4
• Automated software installation (kickstart, jumpstart, FAI)
• Understanding of systems development lifecycle process
• NFS clustering
• Streaming technologies, particularly Macromedia FCS / FMS
• MySQL/Oracle DB admin experience
• Network monitoring systems (nagios/netsaint, HP openview, OpenNMS)
• LAMP
• Understanding of Windows AD / windows server technology.
• Understanding of Pix firewalls / IP tables / PF & ipsec vpn
